Defund DAPL: Divesting from TD Bank
Our Indigenous relatives have asked us to pressure the banks that are funding the Dakota Access Pipeline to withdraw funding commitments. In response, Eastern Maine for Racial Justice holds regular vigils at the TD Bank branch at 217 High Street, Ellsworth, ME. Our next vigil will be Friday, March 24 from 4-5 pm.
TD Bank is one of the 17 financial institutions funding the pipeline that threatens the water of the Missouri River and desecrates land that is sacred to the Sioux, including burial grounds. You can read more details here.
Stand with us as we continue to call for TD Bank to #DefundDAPL!
These are outside events, so please dress accordingly.
We invite you to join us in the spirit of peaceful non-violent prayer for a change of heart to defund DAPL. Please spread the word and bring your friends!
Partial list of sponsoring organizations:
People for Standing Rock
Peace and Social Action Committee of Unitarian Church Ellsworth
Peninsula Peace & Justice
Peace & Justice Center of Eastern Maine
Island Peace and Justice
Veterans for Peace: Tom Sturtevant Chapter
